Excellent food, hospitality and atmosphere. I highly recommend making a reservation as it's quite busy at dinner time. I had puntas de filete with mole coloradito which comes with flat breads and beans for 21.89. It was delicious. I also had the enchiladas with mango mole which comes with rice and bean for 18.29. They also give you complementary nachos! Ask for the sample of moles if you are unsure about the taste. The staff is very helpful and kind.

Red Iguana – Best Mexican Food in Salt Lake City Red Iguana is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Salt Lake City. After moving from Southern California three years ago, we’ve been searching for authentic Mexican food — and this place absolutely delivered. I ordered the enchiladas, and my wife had the flautas along with a peach margarita. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The sauces were incredible, especially the mole — you can tell they specialize in rich, traditional flavors. The peach margarita was one of the best we’ve ever had. The atmosphere is fun, lively, and full of character. Even though we had a 30-minute wait, it was well worth it. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience even better. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in Salt Lake City, don’t miss Red Iguana. Great food, great service, and a true local favorite. We can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu.

Red Iguana in Salt Lake City is a must-visit for food enthusiasts. They are renowned for their diverse selection of mole dishes, each with its own unique and delicious flavor profile. I recommend asking for a complimentary mole sampler to experience all of their offerings. Additionally, their take on traditional Mexican cuisine is impressive, and you are unlikely to be disappointed. The steak and fajitas are particularly noteworthy and well-prepared.

Really the best Mexican food I've had. It's a shabby looking place, the neighborhood is meh, you'll wait in line to get in (20 min on a Thursday evening at 5pm). But it's good. The chips are light and the smooth, smoky and flavorful salsa is amazing. Don't fill up on them even though you want to. Then we had the Mango Enchiladas and the Traditional Enchiladas. You'll get two corn wrapped enchiladas with whatever meat you want and covered in truly great sauce. That's their real mastery, the moles and sauces. The mango was slightly sweet, smoky, and deep. The traditional was easily the best traditional enchilada I've had. Staff were really quick and friendly, they're used to moving people through smoothly. The food came quickly, nice and hot and fresh, and the prices were really reasonable. The beans and rice that they come with are fine, they're kind of a Mexican food staple, but the enchiladas are the stars. Focus on those.

It's a safe bet that the further west you go, the better the Mexican food, and to this East Coast visitor this has been the best Mexican food he's had in his life. Highly recommend the moles, they can bring you a sampler to try them all out. Ended up getting steak with green mole and it was so worth it. Solid margaritas and beers as well. It has something for everyone. Worth checking it out if you're in the city.

Walked in on a Saturday night and waited for an hour to be seated. The waiting time is for real. Ordered Mole Poblano and Puntas De Filete A La Nortena, they were super tasty and full of flavours! Make sure to ask for a mole sampler if you couldn’t make up your mind ! Our server Marjorie did a great job too, she was very welcoming and attentive. Highly recommend!

Just by chance, we choose to stop at the Red Iguana for Mexican food after landing at the airport. I made a reservation online because it was an option, and we were getting there within an hour of closing. I am so glad we did. They were people waiting on tables when we arrived at 8:30 on a Thursday. Their slogan is "Killer Mexican." This is a pretty high standard in my book. But I am glad to say they did not disappoint. We had Virginia for a server. The service was fast and delightful. The food was killer. I had the Mole Verdes, and it was awesome. My wife had a beef chimichanga and was sad she couldn't eat it all. I think we might just stop there for lunch before we fly out.
